Jessica Billey is a musician-artist in need. But not in need of talent. She has loads of that. On this episode we talk to the New Mexico resident about her history in bands like The Velmas and Disaster Action Team around Purdue some years back, her work as a touring musician with the Mekons, Smog, and others her current work with The Grave of Nobody's Darling and Phantom Lake. She also has done some fine art work, which you can find at jessicabilley.com.
The journey, of course has not been without bumps, and Jessica is experiencing some now. Some time ago, just before major surgery, Jess witnessed a murder, and shortly after surgery, began therapy for the physical and mental trauma. A month ago, after a therapy session, she returned home to find her spouse of over 10 years had abruptly left. Since then, there has been a little email communication with her spouse, but very little. And the financial toll has been huge, with mounting legal and medical costs, along with home maintenance expenses. We hope you'll share this podcast with friends, go to Bandcamp for her music, and her website for her art. We are hoping to put together a modest fundraiser for her, and hope to have information available for women anywhere dealing with these problems. Keep listening her and checking our social media for details on future efforts. If you'd like to help, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
